Comparing the Human Experience to the Driving Machine
I have illustrated six cars—three luxury and three non-luxury cars. Along with each car, I interviewed the owner of it, asking what they loved about their car. Taking a look at the user experience of their cars, pointing at the question of whether luxury cars are in actuality worth the extra money people spend. Alongside these six illustrations, I have created a concept car called the F61. This car was inspired by my mom who was having trouble finding an SUV that she loved. So I decided I would design her one. As I created it, I decided to take parts from the other six cars that I illustrated and incorporate them into my design—a frankenstein of sorts. The process of creating and illustrating these cars just made me appreciate the smallest details that go into every car, whether it is a 2001 or a 2016, every scratch bump and dent just adds character to the car. It does not matter if you paid $5,000 or $250,000, you love your car for many reasons and that is all that matters. Car design takes a streamlined aesthetic and amplifies it to create this massive machine that is both functional, and visually stimulating. I design cars—for a better future.
